The time you sang me a song

was the time I had heard you grew silent

The hour I heard your laughter

was the hour my heart ached in pain

The moment I apologized

was the moment that I opened my eyes.

The minute that you let go of my hand

was the minute that I let go of my pride.

The time you’ve moved on

was the time I had longed for you

The day you’ve told yourself to trust me never

was the day I cried until it took me forever.

The day you left with an unspoken goodbye

was the day I started to cry

The day I realized there was no longer you

was the day that I truly loved you.

Today your heart is good as ever

your tears are overflowing with sweet laughter

Today I met you again and to smile I don’t know how

when you said “I can cry forever now.”

Time brought me to the place.

My mind stunned and thought of another

But the threads of reality stitched me to stay

I thanked the rain for letting me remember.

Nostalgia spewed out in higher levels

My heart was paralyzed and felt once more.

And the fading dawn of sweet memories urged me to answer

I love you still, I love you more.

Happiness clothed me in deep slumber

My eyes shone and sang a song

yet the broken windows of yesterday caused me to fear

I realized you’re not here for so long.

Hope comforted me in a chair

My hands were left alone with none to share

but the daunting pressure of the past tucked me in pain

I remembered you, I remembered, I still care.

I know I am a fool

I’m a fool believing that you cared

Cared enough to tell me your sweet undying lies.

Lies that completely devoured my weary soul.

I know I can’t be perfect

Perfect enough to belong in your spotless little world

Your world that is meant only for your kind.

Your kind that is always rejecting, unpleasant and blind.

I know I am not enough

Enough to fulfill your unending expectations

Expectations that torn my heart into a million pieces

Pieces that will never be restored again.

I know I am not accepted

Accepted to satisfy your pride and your insecurities

Insecurities that destroyed my once happy life

Life that didn’t matter to me now.

I know I am not capable

Capable enough for me to prove to you my worth

Worth that will always fall short from your perfect rotten standards

Standards that ruined the trust and love I once willingly offered.

I know I am mistaken

Mistaken that I thought you love me enough to spare from bondage

Bondage that swallowed the hope that once held my heart

My heart that will never be heard and understood.

I know I am a fool in believing that you can see

I know I am not perfect to belong in your blameless family

I know I am not enough for you and never will be

I know that you will always be hating me.

I know, I am ready to give up on you now.

Forgotten Avenue

Broken spotlights and a forked road shaded yesterday.
You led me along the highways of blithe reality.
The strum of your guitar was the key that freed the chains of unspoken melancholy.

You are the only owner of a rare symphony.
The air is always overwhelmed with your innocent laughter.
The sweetest memory of you was the voice that lingered in the silent boulevards.

But sadly, I can’t be the princess in your paramount richly-lit stage,
I’m just a girl with rotten poetry and will always be.
I caused your bright smiles to fade like a late lonely sunset in a dark horizon.

Your sparkling eyes flew where the tender skies are blue,
But the rain never brought me there,
‘coz I’m only a “one little avenue” in your big beautiful world of carefully carved maps.

I never thought you’d pave your way into misery.
It was none of my intentions to unpaint your genuine cheerful heart,
And yes, I’m the only one to blame; I know “sorry” is never the right word to heal your pain.

An old photograph secretly taken claimed to suffice your nostalgic space.
Books I read can’t erase the lonely words of you that deeply marked my face.
The song you sang with the local band made the flowers cry with you in honest sympathy.

You slowly uttered special notes of cold simplicity.
Honey-filled promises escaped from your soft musical hands, untied readily
Yet, only a colored one-legged sparrow heard your bashful tears.

The precious blissful days hardly found my letter you’ve never read,
“Please, try to love again.” you barely heard me said.
But love was thrown in a river of impossibilities coz a miracle of you will never lose its way again in a forgotten avenue.

Now I know, everything is already a “big too late”
I cleared the busy street only to see you’re not there anymore
And this I want to tell you, it’s wrong for you to say “Thank you”
Please, oh please my dear cherished one; don’t cry…coz you don’t deserve to.

You made me so special, its true, and I took all the blame.
Excuses and reasons I’ve given you were all poor and lame.
“Sorry” will never be the right word to heal your pain…

Yes, I am to blame, for I know you’ll never love me again.
